Two virtual panel discussions on Digital Fashion organized and moderated by Michael Spicher.

Panel 1 – What is Digital Fashion?
Monday, October 10, 2022 at 1pm
Panelists: Doris Domoszlai-Lantner, Daniella Loftus, Afsha Iragorri
Topic: Changing the clothes of a digital character developed in the world of video games. As avatars began to represent people in virtual spaces, digital fashion became a more pressing need. Clothing is part of our identity. In this panel discussion, we’ll explore the origins of digital fashion, explain what it is and can become, and some of the technological aspects of this developing industry, including its impact on the metaverse.

Panel 2 – Digital Fashion and Sustainability
Friday, October 14, 2022 at 12 pm.
Panelists: Sara Emilia Bernat, Leslie Holden, Olga Chernysheva
Topic: It is well-known that the fashion industry contributes a large amount of pollution to the world. Too many garments end up in landfills, for instance, and sometimes this results from a garment that was used for one Instagram photo. The social impact of fashion can be seen equally concerning, as it deepens already existing inequalities along the supply chain, and still fails to adequately address issues of diversity and inclusion, as well. In this panel, we’ll explore ways that digital fashion presents a sustainable solution for the fashion industry, lowering the social and environmental impact.
