Director and Founder, Aesthetics Research Lab
Founded in 2016, the Aesthetics Research Lab is a think tank and resource dedicated to exploring both theoretical and practical dimensions of aesthetics. The Lab is curated and led by Dr. Michael Spicher.
Dr. Spicher has spent over twenty years studying how aesthetics enriches our lives. He holds a PhD in philosophy with a focus on aesthetics and political philosophy from the University of South Carolina, where he also developed courses on literature, contemporary moral issues, and the philosophy of art and aesthetics. He currently teaches at Boston Architectural College and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, offering classes on history of aesthetics, existentialism, and modern to contemporary art.
He serves on the editorial board of The Philosopher.
In addition to his scholarly work on aesthetic taste, experience, the history of aesthetics, the sublime, and digital fashion, Dr. Spicher regularly speaks and writes for both general and specialized audiences, including a monthly column for BeautyMatter. He also provides consulting, leads workshops and speaking engagements, and offers philosophical counseling to individuals and organizations.
He lives in Boston.
